Privacy policy

In one paragraph

We store the data you put into MyHomeStock — your account, your inventory, and the receipts you scan — so we can show it back to you. We don't sell anything to advertisers. You can export your data or delete your account at any time from Settings.

What we collect

• Account: Your email, hashed password, optional display name, and the locale you've chosen.
• Inventory: Item names, quantities, categories, expiry dates, and any notes you add. Stored against your account (or your household if you've joined one).
• Receipts: When you scan a receipt, the photo is sent to Google Gemini for OCR and discarded after the items are extracted. The extracted line items (name, price, quantity) are stored against your account.
• Analytics: If you accept analytics cookies, we record anonymous events about which features you use (e.g. "onboarding completed"). No item names, email addresses, or barcodes are ever in these events.
• Cookies: We use cookies to sign you in, remember your language, prevent CSRF attacks, and (if you accept) measure feature usage. See the cookie banner for the full list.

Why we use it

To provide the service: showing you your pantry, sending restock reminders, predicting when you'll run out, and sharing inventory with your household. We process data on the legal basis of performance of the contract you accept when you create an account, plus your consent for optional analytics.

Third parties

We process your data with these vendors:

• Vercel — hosting + edge runtime. Your encrypted data is stored in their EU/US infrastructure.
• Prisma / Postgres — managed PostgreSQL. Your inventory and account data lives here.
• Google (Gemini) — OCR for receipt photos. Images are sent on-demand and not retained by them for training.
• Resend — transactional email (restock reminders, password resets). Only your email address is shared.

How long we keep it

Your data stays for as long as your account exists. Analytics events are deleted after 90 days. When you delete your account, all associated data (items, receipts, household membership, events) is removed within 7 days.

Your rights

• Access — see everything we store about you in your dashboard.
• Export — download your data as JSON from Settings → Export account data.
• Delete — close your account permanently from Settings → Delete account.
• Withdraw consent — open the cookie banner again from any page footer.

Changes to this policy

We'll bump the date above and notify signed-in users about material changes. Trivial wording fixes won't trigger a notification.
